The Best Exercises For Your Body

Sometimes we tend to neglect our bodies because we’re uncertain about what exercises will benefit the most. In order to find the best exercises for you, knowledge is key. Knowing more about exercise will help you find a fitness routine that you’ll enjoy. There are four mainstream exercises--all of which are beneficial in their own way.

Yoga

Yoga, is a family of ancient spiritual practices originating in India. Today, yoga is integrated with other medical practices for the purpose of therapeutic healing. Its effects can help various disorders such as digestion, diabetes, back pain, arthritis, anxiety and depression. Other benefits include increase in flexibility, increase in lubrication of the ligaments, joints and tendons, the massaging of body organs, muscle toning and detoxification, making it one of the best exercises out there.

Cardio

Cardiovascular exercise increases the work of the heart and lungs. Forms of cardio include, running, jogging and walking. Benefits from cardio range from reduced risk of heart disease, improved heart function, reduced risk of osteoporosis, improved muscle mass and improved blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

In order for you to reap the benefits of cardio, your workout should be sustained for at least 20 minutes, three to four times a week. Cardio elevates your pulse--the higher the pulse rate, the higher amount of calories and fat being burned.

Pilates

This method called Contrology, referred to the use of the mind to control the muscles. This program focuses on the core postural muscles that keep the body balanced and the spine strong.

Benefits from this exercise include a healthy spine, gentle conditioning, improved mental outlook, increased motivation, better balance, more coordination, and less pain and stiffness. Pilates takes time and dedication, but with patience, you will see changes in stability and coordination. You will also recover faster from injuries, and build strength and stamina. Overall, Pilates is one of the best exercises for getting in shape without putting too much strain on your body.

Strength Training

There are numerous reasons to incorporate strength training into your workout. When done regularly and properly, it’s one of the best exercises a woman can do, especially as she gets older. Some benefits include increased metabolic rate, increased bone density, increased muscle strength, power and endurance, decreased risk of coronary disease, enhanced performance in sports, improved flexibility and mobility, feeling better and looking better.

Here are some basic strength training tips to help you get started:

  • Check with your doctor if you currently have an illness or disorder. Strength training may not be best for you.

  • Warm up. It allows blood to warm the muscles and lubricate the joints.

  • Stretch your muscles before any heavy workout.

  • Limit workouts to an hour or less.

  • Listen to your body. Take a break when needed. Your body has to adapt to strength training.

  • Breathe. Failure to breath correctly may cause harmful effects such as increased blood pressure.

Overall, strength training is wonderful for those that want to increase their physical endurance and strengthen their body in order to deflect those problems aging tends to throw our way.

How to choose?

Now that you have more knowledge about the best exercises available and their benefits, choosing one may be a little easier. While all four of these fitness programs are helpful, they may not necessarily help you. Talk with a fitness trainer or your doctor to gain insight. Above all, do what makes you feel most comfortable. Stay motivated and be patient--you will get the body you’ve always dreamed of.
