Consistent Exercise Without the Gym
You hate the gym, but you know you need to start exercising. Well, you don’t have to get a membership in order to get in shape. There are many ways to jumpstart your own consistent exercise routine at home. No matter what form of exercise you do, motivation is key in order to obtain results. If you are not excited about exercising, then you won’t continue to exercise on a regular basis and that is exactly what you want to avoid.
Identify Your Goals
You can’t work towards something if you don’t know what that something is. Figure out what your goals are. Maybe you want to lose weight, but that alone is a very broad goal. You need to narrow it down by figuring out how much weight you want to lose. You may have the desire to lose anywhere from five pounds to twenty pounds. Pick a number and start working towards it.
Make Sure Your Goals Are Realistic
If you set your goals too high, you may get discouraged if you fail. Take baby steps. There is no need to set the bar so high. Start with small goals and then work your way up. By setting realistic goals, you will stay motivated when you see results.
Time Manage
You must set aside time for exercise. Everyone gets busy, but that is no excuse for not taking care of you body and health. Sit down and make a list of everything you do during the day…everything. This includes, television time, phone time, and anything else you do that is not a necessity. Surprisingly, you will see just how much time can be wasted in a day. Set aside at least 30 minutes for exercise, 2 to 3 days per week. If you are able to exercise 5 to 6 days per week, you will train your body and see results faster. If you want consistent exercise, you have to make time for yourself.
Wear Comfortable Clothing
Restricting clothes will restrict your exercise. Buy clothes that will allow you to be flexible and comfortable during your workout. Wear comfortable shoes that will support your feet and ankles. Injuries will slow down your progress, so wear the proper attire and replace them when they start to get worn.
Make Exercising Fun
Boring routines lead to lack of motivation. When you don’t enjoy exercising, you won’t continue to exercise. Work out with a friend or listen to music you love. Incorporate new exercises into your routine. If you find yourself still struggling with ideas, there are numerous websites out there flooded with simple yet effective exercises. Variety will help you stay on track.
Keep it Simple
Start out slow and then increase intensity once your body becomes conditioned to consistent exercise. Instead of walking a mile your first day of exercise, try walking half that distance. Do this until you are ready to step it up a notch. After your body becomes accustomed to this routine, throw some light jogging into the mix. Just remember to avoid overexerting yourself.
Don’t Give Up
In conclusion, keep in mind that results will not happen over night. Getting in shape and staying in shape takes hard work, dedication and time. With focus and consistent exercise, your goals will become reality. Keep your chin up and eyes forward—the results will come.
